Extraction of oil from domestic sources has been doubled as of today!

2013-03-22

PBG and PGNiG signed this morning a finale acceptance protocol of the crude oil and natural gas mine project - LMG. The acceptance took place near three weeks before the date of the project termination that had been planned for April 10, 2013.

This is the largestand the most modern structure of this kind in Poland and one of the few in Europe and the world. Even the Client`s advisers said, that it was one of the best project this kind on the whole world.

In the mine, apart from commercial products essential to the Investor: crude oil and natural gas, there will be obtained other products that are crude oil derivatives – LPG
(propane-butane) and condensate (heavyhydrocarbons – C5 plus) and the liquid form of sulfur. This gives an additional source of income for the investor and supplements the Client`s product portfolio.

The system is also suitable for production of natural gas, which can be used for commercial purposes or as a raw material for thermal power station, generating  heat and electricity, alike for own purpose and for selling to the power grid.

The mine doubles exploration and production of crude oil from deposits and national sources.

This unique facility is fully automated and actually independent from external factors. It has been equipped with the newest technology and systems, delivered by the world's leaders and providers of these solutions- said Tomasz Tomczak, the Vice President of the Board of PBG who is responsible for realization of the project. The construction was performed thanks to a hugeeffort ofthe competent and skilled team. An early start of production is the result of this effort. It guarantees fasterreturn of the client`s capital expenditures. I am convinced that PGNiG, supported by our service, will be fully satisfied with operation of the mine –he added.

The contract with its Leader Consortium - PBG was implemented in the form of EPC Contract (EPC- Engineering, Procurement, Construction). Technip KTI (Italy) and Thermo Design Engineering (Canada) also participated in the whole Consortium. The contract was signed with PGNiG  on  August 11, 2008 with the value of nearly 1,4 billion PLN (net).

PBG was responsible for designing, manufacturing and commissioning of the project, as well as for delivering the installation to the Client, that generates  commercial products with the required technology in the continuous process. The installation was delivered to the Client with all permissions required by Polish law, as well as with all approvals, including technical, environmental, mining and construction ones.

The first works on the site was started in 2008 and PBG, as the General Contractor, received 56 months to build and finish the mine, as a turn-key contract.

A positive technical commissioning took place in December2012 and positive tests of the project took place on February this year. The tests consisted of continuous, faultless operation of all machinery and equipment with full capacityfor 72 hours.A guaranteetest of the installation endedwith positive result on March,13and confirmed all guaranteed parameters of installation and products of the mine. Since the beginningof 2013, within the testsandoperationalmovement of the installation, it has been producednearly60,000tons of crude oilas well as severalmillion cubic metersof natural gas.

LMG is one of the most important and also the largest investment in the history of the Polish crude oil and gas mining. The name of the project comes from the names of the villages near where the project is located: Lubiatów – Miedzychód – Grotów, so in the middle of Noteć Forest, in the area covered by the program: “Nature 2000”!

The investment, which was  given  apositive opinion of the state departments of environmental protection (integrated permit) was completed without any protest from environmental organizations and local communities. The project was conducted with extreme respect for the natural environment. It was installed air quality, technology and pipeline tightness  monitoring for the environment safety.
